Glacier pots
The glacial potholes, which are up to eight meters deep, were formed 20,000 years ago during the last ice age. Their discovery is pure coincidence, as Josef Wilhelm Amrein-Troller only wanted to blast a hole for his new wine cellar - and discovered this geotope of national importance in the process. The fossilized sea shells and palm leaves found, on the other hand, are 20 million years old and prove that Lucerne was once located on a subtropical seashore.
