In 1896, Xaver Imfeld built a log cabin in the glacier garden based on the SAC model. It offers a view of the Gorner Glacier near Zermatt - in its mighty expanse around 1850. It is in fact an artistically crafted 3D diorama, of which only a few still exist in Switzerland. This illusion once offered tourists a safe, inexpensive mountain experience, long before the age of mountain railroads.
